My job is to make your job easier

How did I fall into all things copy?  Well, in second grade, my teacher praised my writing skills. And then I became a writer.

Now, my job is to decipher complex topics that your developers, subject matter experts, and product folks know inside and out and turn it into something your audience understands. I’m not a developer, and I’m no technophile—but that’s what makes my SaaS copy so irresistibly digestible. I’m the bridge between your down-and-dirty tech people and your audience.

I call myself a freelancer (‘cause, you know, SEO), but really, I’m the CEO of CBR.

With over 8 years of experience at agencies, in-house marketing teams, and running my own business, I’ve developed a knack for writing words that sell. I've written primarily for (but not always) B2B organizations in technology, financial services, and healthcare.

I currently live in Orange Country, California with my husband, one angel, and one demon—AKA my cats Binx (angel) and Millie (demon).

If you're looking for a partner to create conversational copy that engages and performs, you're in the right place.

The copy tenets I live by

Pretty is better than proper

Although I’ve played both writer and editor, I don’t believe in rules for the sake of rules. Do I write fragments? Yes. Do I make up words when it suits me? Yes-ish. If we followed all the rules, we wouldn’t have some of the best slogans in advertising history, like Think Different, and Got Milk.

Brevity is best

‘Nuff said.

capitalization

Sentence case? Title case? I’ve switched back and forth so many times, I no longer have a preference. Which do you prefer? I like that one.

oxford comma

I use it. But again, I’ll always fall back on your brand style guide.

we’re all our own worst editors

Sure, you learned in school that you need to double and triple-check your papers before turning them in (and we do!), but our brains tend to fill in the correct information whether or not it’s actually there. We’re also inherently going to understand our meaning (hello, we wrote it) while the audience may not. We can all use another pair of eyes.

revisions: GIve ‘em to me!

I love the opportunity to get better. Don’t be afraid to tell me when you don’t like something… On the other hand, please don’t send back revisions that include a missed apostrophe or an added bullet point. Some writers are precious about their copy, but I’m not one of them. I trust that if you make any truly drastic changes, you’ll let me know.
