What worked 5 years ago won’t work today

It’s time stop throwing rocks at a brick wall. If you’ve tried to engage your audience but have had little success, it’s time to rethink your content strategy.

B2B customers are smart. They don’t want to wade through semi-relevant blog posts that rely on old marketing strategies or share their information for an e-book that shares no new information (and only touts your brand benefits). They want unique and compelling content written for them, not the old Google algorithm.

5 steps to not-boring content

Want to know what to expect? Here’s my process for your next content project.

1. Discovery call

Are we the right fit? I’ll schedule our introductory video call so we can get to know each other, your brand, and identify your content needs. After, I’ll send over the proposal and contracts so we can get started.

2. Project kick-off

Now that we’ve signed the contracts, we’ll schedule a project kick-off to go over everything in detail. Together, we’ll decide on topic(s), set the timeline, and go over mutual expectations.

3. Research phase

This is the time to share any documentation, proprietary research, or inspiration for your piece. Depending on the topic, we can schedule interviews with customers, subject matter experts, etc. to create unique and well-rounded content.

4. First draft

Get a near publish-ready first draft complete with a meta description and several headline options ready for review.

5. Revisions and final approval

Every project comes with two rounds of revisions to ensure you get the content you need to make your brand shine. Once the content is approved, I’ll work on any supplemental assets to help you promote the piece across channels.

If you’re silently screaming, “BUT WHAT ABOUT SEO?!”

I get it. For years and years, marketers and agencies have been shouting SEO best practices at the top of their lungs.

But SEO is a long hill to climb, especially in crowded spaces like B2B SaaS. Solely writing for rankings leaves a lot of great conversations on the table. It’s also important to write for understanding, write for thought leadership, and write for personality. Let your audience get to know your brand, what you do, and what you stand for, and the Google rankings will follow.

Don’t worry. I’m not throwing the SEO rule book out the window. I’m just saying keywords are only one part of a well-thought-out content strategy.

See what I can do for you!
